Servicing
Routine service schedule items vary according to the age, mileage covered and the condition of certain components, or they may follow a specific warranty schedule, certain tasks conducted are additional to standard interim servicing.
However on a standard or annual service there are items which we will routinely inspect, adjust, replace, top up, clean and lubricate as required, these include:
Engine:
- Spark plug(s)
- Spark plug cap(s)
- Engine/transmission oil & filter (4-Stroke)
- Gearbox oil, two stroke oil and pump adjustment (2-Stroke)
- Cooling systems
- Drive chain (standard bikes)
- Drive belt (belt driven bikes)
- Variomatic drive systems, clutch shoes/drum, kick-starter mechanism (scooters)
- Final drive oil level/condition (scooters and shaft drives)
- Air filter element(s)
- Carburettor synchronisation (multi-cylinder) - Idle/mixture adjustment (all)
- Valve clearances (Optional depending on mileage/condition/requirements)
Chassis:
- Disc Brakes - Brake caliper(s) strip/clean/lubricate
- Drum brakes inspect/adjust/lubricate
- Brake fluid moisture check, replaced if this test fails (moisture content increases over time and can cause internal component corrosion)
- For sintered brakes or high performance bikes ask about Dot 5.1 fluid
- Control lever, brake pedal, footrest and suspension pivots
- Electrical system (lights, horn, indicators, battery fluid, etc)
- Tyre pressures, condition of tyre, valve stems, caps
- Winter services can include an application of Scottoiler FS365 corrosion inhibitor if requested at a small additional cost. (Recommended)
If requested we will can also conduct minor servicing to suit customers requirements for example an oil and filter change only, or specific tasks such as greasing of rear suspension linkages or steering head bearings.
Repairs
We perform all general motorcycle repairs, mechanical, electrical and otherwise, from small adjustments to overhauls.
Here are some examples of common items which we repair, fit or replace :
- Control cables - lubrication, repair or replacement
- Drive chains and sprockets (and chain link riveting)
- Belt drive system components - belts, variators, rollers weights & centrifugal clutches
- Carburettor overhauls and/or synchronization
- Clutches - friction plates and springs
- Crankshaft rebuilds (via a trusted engineer)
- Electrical connectors and sleeves (Japanese w-crimp type, not those nasty plastic coated ones)
- Exhausts - replacement or repairs such as silencer re-packing, welding and re-riveting
- Fasteners - removal of damaged or seized and replacement of incorrect ones
- Fuel system connections inc. neoprene hose and inline filters etc.
- Levers, pedals and footrests
- Pistons and rings, new cylinder kits and cylinder re-boring (via trusted engineer)
- Radiators, thermostats, pressure caps and water pump overhauls
- Replacement of engine gaskets and seals
- Steering head bearings (ball or taper-roller)
- Suspension seals, bushes, pivot bearings, fluids etc.
- Tyres, tubes, valves and rim tapes

How do ultrasonic cleaners work?
An electrical generator within the cleaning unit emits a high frequency signal, the transducers attached to the tank produce compression waves in the liquid, and this is known as cavitation. During cavitation the liquid is torn apart forming vacuum cavities or bubbles, as each cavity collapses it produces pressures of 20,000 lb/in² at a temperature of 5,000°c - But all on a microscopic scale. Millions or these bubbles are created and collapsed every second; the violence of this action is what produces the cleaning affect.
